Last Time Out
ATL UTD 2 began its three-match road trip playing Orlando City B to a 2-2 draw before falling in penalties 5-3. Atlanta went down in the 11th minute after a scramble in the box left the net open for Jhon Solis to slot a shot away for a 1-0 lead. Nick Firmino got Atlanta on the board in the 70th after Alan Carleton floated a well-placed cross to the back post for Firmino to send a header past the hands of the keeper. ATL UTD 2 built on its lead late in the match after Carleton intercepted a pass above Atlanta’s box before carrying the ball on the counterattack and laying off a pass for Karim Tmimi at the top of the opposing 18, who got off a shot that nutmegged his defender and keeper to take a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute. Orlando equalized in the 95th minute after Favian Loyola dribbled past his defender outside the box before taking a shot just outside the 18, which rolled just past the reach of Cohen to the bottom right corner of goal. The two sides traded successful conversions in the penalty shootout for the extra point before Carleton had his shot saved after going to the lower right corner.
