The countdown to the 2024 MLS season has officially begun for Atlanta United. Next season kicks off in February. 

Here are some other important dates this offseason:

November 22

Club deadline to submit Bona Fide offers

The deadline for Atlanta United to submit to the league office, in writing, all Bona Fide offers.

December 1

Club Deadline to Exercise Options

Atlanta United must submit to the MLS league office which players will have their options exercised and which players will not have their options exercised.

December 6-9

MLS College Showcase 

The fourth edition of the MLS College Showcase takes place in Phoenix, Arizona. The closed-door event will give Atlanta United’s technical staff an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation, including players with remaining NCAA eligibility.

December 11

Trade Window Opens (9 a.m. ET)

Following a three-month roster freeze, Atlanta United can begin adjusting the roster and conduct trades with other MLS clubs.

December 12

End-of-Year Waivers (5 p.m. ET)

The waiver process is conducted in reverse order of the 2023 season finish, including performance in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

Players eligible for selection on waivers do not meet the minimum requirements for Re-Entry or Free Agency. The End-of-Year Waivers process will close on Thursday, December 14 at 5 pm ET. End-of-Year Waivers Rules & Procedures

December 13

Free Agency opens (1 p.m. ET)

Atlanta United can begin discussions with players other than their own who qualify for free agency.

Free Agency-eligible players are out-of-contract and option-declined players who are at least 24 years old and who have completed a minimum of five service years. Free Agency Rules & Procedures

December 14

Re-Entry Process Stage 1 (1 p.m. ET)

Atlanta United can select experienced MLS players who have not agreed to a new contract with their current club. The selection order is determined in reverse order of 2023 season finish, including performance in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Eligible players include those who are at least 22 years old, have a minimum of one service year, and are not eligible for Free Agency. An out-of-contract player who has received a Bona Fide offer from his current club will not be eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.

December 19

MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas (3 p.m. ET)

Atlanta United’s order in the draft is determined by the reverse order of the standings at the end of the season, including performance in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The SuperDraft consists of three rounds of player selection.

December 21

Re-Entry Process Stage 2 (1 p.m. ET)

Stage 2 is conducted in the same order as Stage 1 and consists of MLS players who were not selected in Stage 1. Atlanta United can select experienced MLS players who have not agreed to a new contract with their current club but may want to stay in the league.

Not all unselected Stage 1 players will be available for selection as players may re-sign with their previous club between stages or may opt out of the process. MLS Re-Entry Process Rules

Preseason Workouts begin

Atlanta United players return to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground for head coach Gonzalo Pineda’s third preseason with the squad.

January 27

Birmingham Legion FC hosts Atlanta United in a preseason friendly at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
