Atlanta United today announced its broadcast team for the 2018 season for locally televised matches on FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southeast. Returning to the booth are Kevin Egan (play-by-play) and Dan Gargan (color), while Jillian Sakovits will join the team and serve as the club’s host and sideline reporter.
“We’re excited to officially announce our 2018 broadcast team,” said Atlanta United President Darren Eales. “After their successful debut season, we look forward to Kevin and Dan joining us again in the broadcast booth and to welcoming Jillian to the team. We’ve been very pleased with our partnership with FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southeast and their commitment to top-class coverage of the club.”
A native of Dublin, Ireland, Egan joined Atlanta United in 2017 as the team’s play-by-play voice for local television broadcasts. Egan got his start in television in 2004 with Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE, covering the Olympic Games as well as the World Cup and Champions League. In 2009 he moved to Chicago to join the Big Ten Network before working on Chicago Fire broadcasts for three seasons. Egan currently works for beIN Sports, based in Miami, and has traveled to Barcelona and Madrid to cover El Clasico and led the network’s USMNT World Cup Qualifier broadcasts. He currently hosts the beIN Sports nightly soccer show called The XTRA.
Gargan, a graduate of Georgetown University, started his playing career in MLS after being drafted by the Colorado Rapids in 2005. During his 12-year MLS career, Gargan made over 200 appearances with Colorado, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy, where he won the 2014 MLS Cup. Prior to joining Atlanta United as lead color analyst, Gargan served as the broadcast analyst for LA Galaxy. He is currently the Vice President and Managing Director for Lou Fusz Athletic in St. Louis, Missouri.
Sakovits, the only new member of the broadcast team this season, is originally from Millbrook, N.Y. After graduating from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta, she started her broadcasting career as a reporter for News 12 in Westchester, N.Y. Since then, Sakovits has held various roles across the professional sports landscape, including work with MLB Advanced Media, NHL.com, the Big Ten Network and MLSsoccer.com. She’s been with MLS since October of 2015, where she made her league debut as a sideline reporter in Portland for Decision Day 2015.
