Series History and Last Meeting
Atlanta United has a record of 4-5-3 (W-L-D) against Inter Miami. The last two meetings between the two clubs have been high scoring affairs. In July of 2023, Miami earned a clean sheet at home after a 4-0 victory over Atlanta. The 5-Stripes were able to even things out when they got their own dominant win at home in September. In the 5-2 win, Tristan Muyumba, Brooks Lennon, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Tyler Wolff.
Recent Form
Atlanta United have not won an MLS match since March. There was hope that after a hard-fought 1-1 comeback draw against Nashville SC, that the team was rounding a corner. The team has seen positive results in the Open Cup, moving on to play Indy Eleven in the quarterfinals in July. As of now, Atlanta is 3-7-4 in MLS play. Inter Miami currently sits at the top of not only the Eastern Conference table, but the Supporters’ Shield standings with 34 points and a record of 10-2-4. Miami has won four out of their five matches.
Players to Watch
Josh Cohen (Atlanta United) – Cohen will be expected to start in the match against Miami. Though he just made his MLS debut against LAFC, Cohen has made quality starts since being acquired in the offseason. He has four clean sheets under his belt so far. Two of them came for Atlanta United 2, while the other two were for the first team in the Open Cup. His most impressive clean sheet came against Charleston Battery. Cohen played the entire 120 minutes without giving up a goal, then stopped the last two Charleston penalty kick attempts to lead the 5-Stripes to the quarterfinals.
Luis Suárez (Inter Miami FC) – Managing to be the leading scorer on a team that includes the likes of Lionel Messi is no small feat. The Uruguayan striker has 11 goals and five assisting coming into the match against Atlanta United.
