ATLANTA — Atlanta United today announced it has signed midfielder Tristan Muyumba from French Ligue 2 side EA Guingamp through the 2027 season using Targeted Allocation Money. Born in Paris, France, the midfielder will occupy an international roster slot pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
“Tristan is a player we are excited to bring into our team this summer,” Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said.” He’s a versatile midfielder who can cover ground defensively and progress the ball forward in attack. His playing profile and skill set fit well with our team and are a good complement to the group of players we have on the roster.”
The 26-year-old midfielder has spent most of his career in France. He came up at AS Monaco and made his professional debut for the side on April 26, 2017 in the Coupe de France match vs. Paris St.-Germain. After a loan spell in Belgium with Cercle Brugge, Muyumba signed with SC Toulon at the beginning of 2020. He made seven appearances in the second half of the season with Toulon before COVID shut down the campaign.
In July of 2020, the midfielder joined EA Guingamp B team and played in nine matches before joining Guingamp’s first team in January, 2021. He had a breakout season in 2021/2022 in Ligue 2 for Guingamp, playing in 31 matches with 17 starts. Muyumba finished the season with three goals and two assists. This past season, the former French youth international set career-highs in matches played (35) and starts (30) as Guingamp finished in fifth place in Ligue 2.
