Atlanta United midfielder Bartosz Slisz became the first-ever Atlanta United player to play in the UEFA European Championship. Slisz came in as a substitute in the 55th minute for Poland with a 1-1 score vs the Netherlands, played in the Volksparkstadion of Hamburg, Germany.

The 25-year old entered the match replacing Taras Romandczuk and allowed Poland to regain possession in the midfield in a highly contested match. However, the Netherland would go on to win 2-1 with a goal in the 83rd minute by Wout Weghorst.

Poland had taken the lead in the 16th minute with a goal by former New England Revolution striker Adam Buksa. Thirteen minutes later, Liverpool's Cody Gakpo tied the match following a deflection.

Slisz has been a Polish international since 2021 when he made his debut in a World Cup qualifier match vs San Marino, and now has 10 caps for his country. Slisz and Poland are in Group D of the torunament and their next two matches are against Austria, (Friday, June 21) and France (Tuesday, June 25).

Slisz joined Atlanta United in January 2024 on a four-year contract from Poland's first division, Legia Warsaw.

Atlanta United could have another player featured in the UEFA EURO 2024 Germany, as Saba Lobjanidze is in the roster for the Georgia National Team. Georgia and Saba debut in the EURO Tuesday, June 18 when they face Turkey.
