Bartosz Slisz, Poland qualify for UEFA Euro 2024 after beating Wales in penalty shootout

With a victory Tuesday, Poland punched its ticket to the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship. Poland qualified for the Euros after beating Wales in a penalty shootout 5-4 at Cardiff City Stadium in the Path A final.

Atlanta United's midfielder Bartosz Slisz started the qualifying match for Poland and played a full 90 minutes plus extra time. The 24-year-old was born in Rybnik, Poland and played professionally in his home country before joining the 5-Stripes this past offseason.

In the semifinal match on March 21, Poland throttled Estonia 5-1. Slisz started the match and went a full 90 minutes.

The UEFA Euro tournament is scheduled to take place from June 14-July 14, 2024 in the host nation of Germany. The tournament is held every four years will feature 24 teams competing for the chance to be crowned European champions.

Slisz joins club teammate Thiago Almada as Atlanta United players who helped their national teams qualify for a massive tournament taking place this summer. Earlier this year, Almada captained a U-23 Argentina squad that qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
