17s, we've got another wonderkid fullback.
Atlanta United announced the signing of Dominik Chong Qui to a Homegrown deal Friday. The contract will run through the 2028 MLS season with an option for 2029. The Alpharetta, Ga. native is just 17 years old and is already playing alongside some of the best in MLS.
This past offseason, Chong Qui signed a contract with Atlanta United 2 just weeks before his 17th birthday. He made 17 appearances and 12 starts for the 2s in 2024 after making his professional debut June 26 against Orlando City B.
He's already been a part of a championship squad with the club. Chong Qui joined the Atlanta United Academy in 2022 and was a member of the U-16 team that won the 2023 MLS Next Cup Championship.
Chong Qui has been on the fast track since he signed with the 2s. The fullback went from making his professional debut to having a first-team contract in less than a year. He was scheduled to become a Homegrown with the First Team on Jan. 1, 2026 but now has his contract early.
At 17 years, 90 days, Chong Qui became the second youngest player to start an MLS match for Atlanta United on March 29 when he filled in for Pedro Amador at left back. Only George Bello, another fullback from Atlanta United's academy, started at a younger age.
"I really believe in him," head coach Ronny Deila said after Chong Qui's debut. "We have a player for the future, and not only for the future, he can do something now ... He just needs to keep training and pushing, because he has something special."
