Atlanta United fans, get your calendars ready!
The 2025 MLS season is shaping up to be a thrilling one for the 5-Stripes, with a packed schedule full of exciting matchups. From fierce rivalries to clashes against top contenders, here are 17 games you absolutely won't want to miss:
Bring up with hype with the early season action:
Saturday, February 22 | 7:30 pm vs. CF Montréal (Home): The season opener at home always holds a special place. Expect a high-energy atmosphere with a packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium as the 5-Stripes look to kick off the year with a statement win. This will only be the fourth time in nine seasons where Atlanta United’s season opener is also the home opener, and ever since we’ve played our home matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium we’re unbeaten in our home openers, winning six out of our last seven. This will be a full venue match.
Saturday, March 1 | 2:00 pm at Charlotte (Away): Our first away match of the year takes us to visit our regional rivals up north. This rivalry adds an extra layer of intensity, with both teams eager to gain bragging rights. Expect a physical and intense match in a hostile environment where we’ve won in our last two visits (3-0 in 2023 and 1-0 last year).
Saturday, March 8 | 7:30 pm vs. New York Red Bulls (Home): A classic Eastern Conference clash against a team known for its high-pressing, counter-attacking style. The Red Bulls are always a difficult opponent, and this home match will be a crucial test for Atlanta, as the Red Bulls won the Easter Conference championship in 2024 and competed in the MLS Cup ultimately won by the LA Galaxy.
Sunday, March 16 | 7:00 pm vs. Inter Miami CF (Home): The burgeoning on-pitch rivalry with Inter Miami has already shown sparks in the last two seasons. With the addition of Lionel Messi, this matchup has taken on even more significance, and since the Argentinean joined MLS the 5-Stripes have played Miami seven times in all competitions, winning four, including two of the Best-of-3 Series in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2024. Expect a packed stadium and a high-octane atmosphere for our first Sunday match of the year, which Apple TV has selected as the Game of the Week.
Spring Showdowns:
Saturday, April 5 | 7:30 pm vs. FC Dallas (Home): Atlanta United’s first interconference clash against a Western Conference side, holds a special place in the 17s’ hearts and memories as the 5-Stripes first-even match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was a 3-0 win against FC Dallas, back on September 10, 2017, weeks after the stadium opened.
Saturday, April 26 | 7:00 pm at Orlando City SC (Away): The matches against Orlando City are always a constant heated affair. Expect a passionate atmosphere and a hard-fought battle in Orlando, as these matches often have a distinct edge, with both teams eager to come out on top. This will be the first time both sides meet following Orlando’s win in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2024.
Saturday, May 3 | 2:30 pm vs. Nashville (Home): Our first match-up against Nashville opens up a very busy month of May for the 5-Stripes, where they will play a total of six regular season matches.
Wednesday, May 14 | 8:30 pm at Austin (Away): Beginning play in MLS in 2021, Austin FC has only faced Atlanta United once before. The Texas side beat the 5-Stripes in 2022 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and in 2025, Atlanta United will make a midweek trip to Texas against a team known for its vibrant atmosphere, for only our second-ever match.
Wednesday, May 28 | 7:30 pm vs. Orlando (Home): Almost a month after the 5-Stripes visit Orlando, the Lions are coming to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a match which offers a chance to solidify dominance. Expect another intense and closely contested match. Atlanta has faced Orlando a total of 23 times across all competitions (21 in MLS Regular Season) with 11 wins for the 5-Stripes and just five for Orlando.
Summer Scorchers:
Thursday, June 12 | 7:30 pm at New York (Away): A trip to the Big Apple is always a special occasion, even more so with Yankee Stadium in the background, a venue which has hosted us a total of seven times, with the 5-Stripes’ last visit to the iconic ballpark back in April 9, 2023. Yankee Stadium holds a special place for the 17s as it was there where we started our 2018 MLS Cup title run with a 1-0 win in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinal. During our last three seasons, our visits to NYCFC have resulted in draws.
Saturday, June 28 | 7:30 pm at Miami (Away): In the middle of a busy summer where Atlanta United will play six consecutive regular season matches away, the second leg against Inter Miami promises to be a spectacle. The 5-Stripes will look to reminisce the last regular season visit to Fort Lauderdale where Atlanta beat Miami 3-1.
Saturday, July 19 | 7:30 pm vs. Charlotte (Home): Months after our first away match at Charlotte FC, our rivalry is headed home as Atlanta looks to showcase its dominance in front of its own fans. Expect a high-energy atmosphere and a determined effort to secure a positive result with a fully packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Saturday, July 26 | 7:30 pm vs. Seattle (Home): A clash of MLS titans. Seattle Sounders FC are a perennial contender, known for their experienced squad and passionate fanbase, while Atlanta has taken the league by storm since joining in 2017. This will be a true test of Atlanta's championship aspirations, as we head into the last third of the season.
Playoff Push:
Saturday, August 30 | 8:30 pm at Nashville (Away): As the playoff race heats up, every point becomes crucial. This away match against a direct rival in the Eastern Conference will be a pivotal moment in the regular season with just six matches left.
Saturday, September 20 | 4:30 pm vs. San Diego (Home): An interconference clash against a newcomer Western Conference team. San Diego joins MLS next season and is already starting to build a roster looking to contend for a playoff spot, with the likes of Mexican starlet Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, and former Red Bulls defender Andrés Reyes.
Sunday, October 5 | 10:30 pm at LAFC (Away): A daunting and our last away trip of the regular season to face LAFC, one of the most exciting and successful teams in MLS in recent years. This will be a true test of Atlanta's ability to compete with a team we’ve faced consecutively over the last three seasons.
Saturday, October 18 | 6:00 pm vs. DC (Home): The last home match of the regular season is always a special occasion. Expect a celebratory atmosphere as Atlanta looks to finish the season strong in front of its home fans on Decision Day and expecting to secure or solidify our spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
