Recent Form
Atlanta heads into Saturday looking for a momentum shift at home following its last two losses. Despite taking more shots and maintaining majority of the possession in both matches, the 5-Stripes lost back-to-back for the first time this season to Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF. As for Charlotte, Atlanta's regional rival is coming off a thrilling 3-2 win at home and has now won two of its last three matches against higher-ranked teams.
Series History and Last Meeting
Atlanta has a 2-1 edge over Charlotte in their series history thus far, one win at home and one as visitors. The teams matched up earlier this season at Bank of America Stadium where the 5-Stripes took home three points with a 3-0 win. Homegrown and 18-year-old Caleb Wiley led the charge with two goals and an assist to Luiz Araújo.
Players To Watch
Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United) – Wiley has been on the rise recently after making his debut for the senior U.S. national team and being named to the U.S. U-20 FIFA World Cup roster within weeks of each other. With these confidence boosts along with his previous performance against Charlotte, Wiley will be another option for Atlanta during its attack in Saturday's match.
Karol Swiderski (Charlotte FC) – The Polish international led the club in scoring last season and added six assists. His scoring in 2023 isn't quite at the same rate; he's scored twice in nine appearances. But with leading scorer Enzo Copetti unavailable due to a yellow card suspension, Swiderski will be called upon to lead Charlotte's attack.
