Recent Form
On Saturday, Atlanta is looking to bounce back after two consecutive losses last week. The 5-Stripes were eliminated from the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a 2-1 loss in extra time to USL side Memphis 901 FC, and they fell 3-1 on the road to Nashville SC in their last league game. On the other end, Miami survived on penalties to advance to the Open Cup Round of 32 and earned three points in MLS play in its 2-1 win over Columbus. Miami had lost their last six league matches prior to last week's win.
Series History and Last Meeting
Both teams will be looking for a tiebreaker in Saturday's match, with the series history sitting at three wins on each side and three draws. Atlanta earned the last win 2-0 at home on June 19, 2022 off goals from Luiz Araújo and now Miami striker Josef Martinez, each goal assisted by the other player. Miami played with 10 men the majority of the game after earning a red card in the 29th minute.
Players To Watch
Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) – Atlanta United's Starboy continued his stellar start to the season on Saturday by adding a fifth goal to his stat sheet, this one from the penalty spot. Almada tallied five total shots and had a passing accuracy of 87.3 percent in the match against Nashville. His goals along with his six assists makes him the current leader of the league in goal contributions. With no Giakoumakis or Ibarra in the lineup, Atlanta will rely heavily on Almada in the midfield and final third.
Leo Campana (Inter Miami CF) – Campana is coming off a game-winning brace last week that snapped Miami's six-game losing streak and named him MLS Player of the Matchday 10. The goals were the Ecuadorian striker's first two of the season and earned the third multi-goal game of his MLS career. Campana was sidelined due to injury early in the season but has returned in great form in his last three starts with five of his seven shots on target.
