Third season of 'Rooted In The Stripes' premieres on YouTube

Rooted-February-19

Atlanta United released the third season premiere of Rooted In The Stripes, a video production that documents the club on and off the pitch, featuring behind-the-scenes access, and exclusive interviews with staff, players, and supporters.

The episode entitled "Daybreak" is an Atlanta United Original, created entirely in-house by the Atlanta United video and broadcast team, and was directed by Sonya Ivashchenko.

The premiere covers the eventful and extraordinary offseason for Atlanta United heading into 2025. Since the loss to Orlando City SC in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2024 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, Atlanta United accomplished an unprecedented changeover. The club hired a new head coach and a new sporting director -- both of whom are proven winners. The team also signed two high-profile designated players, Miguel Almirón and Emmanuel Latte Lath, whose arrivals are captured in the documentary.

“To do all that in the space of December, January, it’s been busy,” club president & CEO Garth Lagerwey said. “It’s exciting.”

Feature interviews for "Daybreak" include:

  • Head coach Ronny Deila
  • Chief Soccer Officer & Sporting Director Chris Henderson
  • Head of International Player Recruitment & Development Jonathan Spector
  • Midfielder Saba Lobjanidze

The 40-minute episode includes footage captured during preseason training, executive-level staff meetings, press conferences and supporter events.

Supporters were among the first to get a glimpse at the new episode. Atlanta United hosted season ticket members for an exclusive premiere on February 17 at Tara Theater off Cheshire Bridge Road. A historic landmark established in 1968 to "celebrate the art of storytelling on the big screen," the Tara provided an intimate atmosphere perfect for an all-access look.

"I'm ready to run through a wall after watching that," one enthusiastic supporter said after the screening. "I'm ready for Saturday, and I'm ready to go."

Soon, these supporters and all of Atlanta will see the results of the events covered on video. This Saturday, Atlanta United kicks off the club's ninth season in Major League Soccer. The 5-Stripes open the season at home for just the fourth time in club history. They take on CF Montréal on February 22.
