If you are traveling to see Atlanta United take on the L.A. Galaxy on August 24 (10:30 p.m. ET kickoff, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 92.9 The Game, Sirius XM Channel 157, La Mejor), here are a few places to visit in Long Beach - which is only 20 minutes away from Carson, California.

Junipero Beach

Junipero Beach, also known as Cherry Beach, is a narrow sandy beach is right outside the Long Beach Museum of Modern Art . The beach runs from the Long Beach lifeguard building all the way to the Belmont memorial pier.

As a county beach, Junipero Beach has bike paths/trails access, bus stop nearby, fishing, food and drink, lifeguard on beach, restrooms, showers, street parking and volleyball court. As for food, Claire's at the Museum is a renowned restaurant just over the street from the beach. (see photo above from Getty)

The Queen Mary

In 1967, the Queen Mary completed her final voyage from Southampton, docking in Long Beach, California, where she remains permanently moored. In the years since, the nearly one-century-old ocean liner has been transformed into a historic hotel and one of Long Beach’s top attractions, welcoming visitors to explore its storied halls and learn of the ship’s history through tours and onboard exhibits.

East Village Arts District

Take a break from the bustle of the city and wander through the quirky and quaint East Village Arts District. This neighborhood appeals to the artist in all of us with its eclectic mix of shops, galleries, and restaurants, many located in restored historic buildings. One of the three museums the arts district has to offer is the Museum of Latin American Art. With Latin Heritage Month just around the corner, it is the perfect spot for tourist to visit.

Catalina Island

Just 22 miles off the coast of Southern California, Catalina Island is home to white-sand beach and gorgeous sunsets. It also offers a plethora of activities, restaurants, and shops for guest to visit. To get to the island, visitors can either get on a ferry called the Catalina Express (pick up spots located in Long Beach, San Pedro, Dana Point) or they can take the Catalina Flyer from Newport Beach.

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden

Designed by Ed Lovell, the garden was opened in April of 1981 and dedicated to the late Earl Burns Miller by his wife Loraine Miller Collins. The main design principles of the garden are concealment, borrowed scenery, and asymmetry.
