If you are looking for something for the whole family to enjoy, the Wharf is the perfect place. As a waterfront city and destination, it is home to many restaurants and shops. In addition to places to eat and shop at, you can also take a stroll on the pier, rent a kayak, and view some attractions. As of this week (June 17 – June 24), guest can participate in Pixar Putt at The Wharf, Friday Night Dancing: Country Line Dance, and Clipper Fleet Week at The Wharf Yacht Race & Maritime Festival (see photo above).

The Smithsonian Museum of African American History & Culture

Atlanta United’s match against D.C. United also coincides with Juneteenth. What better place to celebrate the holiday than learning about the rich and interesting history of African American culture in this country. Opened to the public in 2016, it is the 19th museum in of the Smithsonian Institution. It has over 40,000 artifacts. The museum is currently honoring Juneteenth.

Smithsonian National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute

The Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI) plays a leading role in global efforts to save wildlife species from extinction and train future generations of conservationists. Guests can view more than 2,200 – that sit on 163 acres.

Georgetown

Georgetown is a historical district located in Potamac. The primary commercial corridors contains high-end shops, bars, restaurants, and Georgetown Park - an enclosed shopping mall. While in the area, you can go on the Potamic River, tour the gorgeous Tudor Place, and explore the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks.

Founded as a gift to the nation, serves as a center of visual art, education, and culture, the National Gallery of Art has a collection of more than 150,000 paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photographs, prints, and drawings. Including the history of Western art and showcasing some of the triumphs of human creativity. Across 363 days a year, the National Gallery offers a full spectrum of special exhibitions and public programs free of charge.
