The best in the world is arriving to MLS this summer, and soon he'll be on the field competing against the 5-Stripes. Lionel Messi, the seven-time Ballon d'Or award-winner and FIFA World Cup champion, is joining Inter Miami CF in the Eastern Conference. Messi is expected to make his club debut July 21 in Inter Miami's opening match in Leagues Cup against Cruz Azul.
Atlanta United has two upcoming meetings on the calendar with Inter Miami and Messi. First, on Tuesday, July 25 in Leagues Cup play, one match following Messi's debut. That match will be held at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.Â
Later in the year, Atlanta United will host Inter Miami and Messi at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The match on Saturday, Sept. 16 will kick off at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga. Atlanta United has confirmed that the 300 level of the stadium will be open for the match. Tickets are still available (but going fast):
