Atlanta United 2 announced the signing of Jamaican forward Ashton Gordon on Jan. 29, 2024. The Decatur, Georgia native joined ATL UTD 2 after having played in Atlanta United’s Academy since 2019.
Gordon spent the majority of the 2024 season with MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Atlanta United 2 where he made five starts through 16 appearances, scoring two goals. He made his Atlanta United First Team debut on May 7 in a U.S. Open Cup matchup against Charlotte Independence.
In 2023, Gordon played with Atlanta United’s U-17 side. He also helped lead the U-16 squad to an MLS NEXT Cup championship in June 2023, leading the team with four goals during the playoff rounds of the tournament. Internationally, Gordon has made four appearances and registered one goal for Jamacia’s U-17 national team, all of which came at the 2023 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Guatemala. He scored on his debut, a 4-2 win against Cuba’s U-17s on Feb. 12, 2023.
2024 (Atlanta United): U.S. Open Cup: Made his Atlanta United debut in a 3-0 win over Charlotte Independence in the Round of 32. Appeared in 128 minutes in Open Cup action against Charlotte Independence and at Charleston Battery. (Atlanta United 2): MLS NEXT Pro: Started five of his 16 regular season appearances. Scored two goals in the 2024 campaign. Made his ATL UTD 2 debut as a substitute on April 24 against Chattanooga FC.
International: Gordon was called up to the Jamaican U-20 squad to compete in the Concacaf U-20 Championships in 2024. He made three appearances and one start in Jamacia’s three matches.
