Atlanta United announced today that three players have received senior team international call-ups for the upcoming FIFA window from March 18-26. Gonzalo Martínez, Josef Martinez and Tito Villalba will leave after the March 17 match against Philadelphia Union and return to first team duties before the club’s match at Columbus Crew on March 30. Gonzalo Martínez is the first player to ever receive a call up to the Argentine national team while playing in MLS.

Gonzalo Martínez, 25, became the first Argentine playing in MLS to ever receive a call up when he was named to manager Lionel Scaloni’s squad ahead of friendlies against Venezuela in Madrid March 22 and against Morocco in Rabat March 26. Martínez has made two appearances with Argentina’s senior national team and scored a goal on his debut on Sept. 8, 2018 in a 3-0 win over Guatemala.

Josef Martinez, 25, will join Venezuela for a friendly against Argentina in Madrid March 22 after being selected by manager Rafael Dudamel. The reigning MLS MVP and Golden Boot winner has scored nine goals in 46 appearances with Venezuela.

Villalba, 24, will join new manager Eduardo Berizzo’s first camp as Paraguay prepare to face Peru in New Jersey March 22 and Mexico in Santa Clara, California March 26. Villalba completed a one-time switch to play for Paraguay in 2018 and made his debut with La Albirroja as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with South Africa on Nov. 20, 2018.
