ATL UTD 2 comes into Saturday’s matchup after a 4-3 loss at home to RGV FC Toros. Robbie Mertz bagged a brace and Raimar made contributions on all three goals, including scoring his first ATL UTD 2 goal from the penalty spot.

MERTZ AND RAIMAR

All the action for ATL UTD 2 was happening through Mertz and Raimar against Rio Grande Valley, as the duo created six total chances on the night.

The Atlanta captain scored two goals on the night and netted his first in style, finding the top corner with a left-footed volley; it was the midfielder’s first goal since June 2021.

Raimar’s versatility has found him at left back and on both wings, but his performance at left wing against RGV FC Toros is his best of the season so far.

With the Brazilian’s one-goal, two-assist performance against Toros, he became the second ATL UTD 2 player this season to log both a goal and an assist in a single match after Jackson Conway’s performance against Charleston Battery on March 27.

BRENDAN LAMBE

Academy midfielder Brendan Lambe has started the last two matches under head coach Jack Collison and the 17-year-old showed why with his performance on Wednesday night.

Lambe made the ATL UTD 2 midfield tick, leading both teams with a 94-percent passing accuracy by completing 32 of his 34 passes.

Making himself a nuisance for the opponent, Lambe also stripped Toros of possession a team-leading nine times.
