Atlanta United announced today former midfielder Jeff Larentowicz will join the USL Championship broadcast as color analyst for Atlanta United 2, when it hosts Charleston Battery on Wednesday, Sept. 15 (7:30 p.m. EST, ESPN+) as well as its match versus Louisville City FC on Wednesday, Sept. 29 (7:30 p.m. EST, ESPN+). Larentowicz will be joined on the call by veteran play-by-play commentator Jon Nelson.
Larentowicz will fill in for analyst Jason Longshore, who will be calling Atlanta United games on the radio broadcast for 92.9 The Game.
Larentowicz, a 16-year MLS veteran who retired from professional soccer on April 5, made his broadcast debut earlier this season on May 23 for ATL UTD 2 during a 2-2 draw against Memphis 901. The former Atlanta midfielder also called Atlanta United’s match on June 27 against New York Red Bulls, where the clubs drew 1-1. His last appearance as color analyst was for another 2-2 draw between ATL UTD 2 and Memphis on July 3.
Larentowicz originally joined the club for its inaugural 2017 season and helped it win three trophies during his time (MLS Cup in 2018, U.S. Open Cup in 2019, Campeones Cup in 2019). During his four seasons with the club, he amassed more appearances (132) than any player and still leads the club in MLS appearances with 121. Over his MLS career, he made 437 league appearances, which is second-most in league history among field players. Â
