One more day until the boys hit the pitch. ATL UTD 2, like all other clubs, practiced from home for the last few months due to COVID-19. The hunger to get back to doing what they love has grown stronger and stronger everyday. For Atlanta’s Jack Gurr, he’s excited to hit the pitch with his team.
“I’ve been enjoying training and getting some 11v11 to prepare,” Gurr said with a smile. “We are all young and trying to get after it and for the team.”
Throughout the last few months, the team has bonded thanks to the coaching staff. Coach Stephen Glass and Henry Apaloo hosted game nights on Zoom and sent film to players to analyze. One of Gurr’s favorite parts of this was how they assigned partners and groups. They were placed with random people every time.
“We worked with players we usually didn’t work with and we don’t speak to regularly,” Gurr explained. “I feel whatever 11 we put on the pitch those guys are going to come on and work as hard as the ones going off. I think our chemistry is going to be the best you’ve seen for an ATL UTD 2 team so far.”
This week training has been more intense as they prepped for Tampa Bay.
“We’ve been trying to replicate what we are going to do against Tampa and what we think they will do,” Gurr shared. “Practice has been really positive.
Even with it being a hard few months, Gurr believes their chemistry and hardwood will shine throughout the rest of their season and in their group regardless of what others say.

I think we have a strong bond. I think our hard work and being smart on the ball and our chemistry that we’re building. We are expecting to go through the group regardless of what anyone else says.”
