ATL UTD 2 defender Shawn Nicklaw was one of 15 players called up to a Guam National Team training camp by head coach Karl Dodd. The training camp is in San Diego, California and began March 19 and will run through March 27.
Nicklaw, 28, has 24 caps with the Matao, which he has represented since 2012. He scored his first international goal in the first preliminary round of the 2015 EAFF East Asian Cup, in a 5-0 win over the Northern Mariana Islands. He later helped Guam to historic consecutive wins during 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification, starting in the 1-0 win over Turkmenistan (June 11, 2015) and a few days later assisting his brother, Travis Nicklaw, score the game-winning goal over India in a 2-1 victory (June 16, 2015).
Joining Nicklaw in San Diego are three other United Soccer League players in Shane Malcolm (Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC), Dallas Jaye (Phoenix Rising FC), and Alex Lee (Richmond Kickers).
ATL UTD 2’s inaugural match is on March 24 against the New York Red Bulls II at Coolray Field. For the full schedule and ticket information, please visit www.atlutd.com/2.
