Atlanta United signed Eric Remedi on June 26, 2018 from Argentine Superliga club Atletico Banfield where he spent the first three years of his professional career and made 68 appearances across all competitions. The Argentine midfielder immediately stepped into Tata Martino’s starting eleven upon arrival in Atlanta, making 13 appearances and 12 starts in league play as well as starting all five matches of the MLS Cup Playoffs during Atlanta’s run to the 2018 MLS Cup.
In his first full season in MLS, Remedi started 25 of his 28 regular season appearances in 2019 and all four of Atlanta’s Concacaf Champions League matches. He made five appearances (four starts) on Atlanta’s run to the U.S. Open Cup title and scored the game-winning goal in the semifinal against Orlando City SC. In 2020, Remedi started 16 of his 22 appearances across MLS and Concacaf Champions League play, recording one goal and one assist.
Remedi made his professional debut with Banfield on June 6, 2015 versus Sarmiento. During the 2017-18 season, Remedi started 21 league matches, helping Banfield to a mid-table finish. Playing as a defensive midfielder, Remedi helped anchor one of the league’s top defenses, as only six teams allowed fewer goals than Banfield (24) during the 27-game season. During the 2016-17 season, he made 23 starts in 24 appearances as Banfield finished in 5th place to qualify for the Copa Libertadores second stage.
2020 (Atlanta United): Started 16 of his 22appearances across MLS and Concacaf Champions League. Started 12 of his 18 appearances in MLS. Scored one goal on Sept. 9 against Miami. Recorded one assist on Aug. 22 against Nashville. Concacaf Champions League: Started all four matches against FC Motagua and Club América in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals.
2019 (Atlanta United): Remedi started 25 of his 28 league appearances in his first full season in MLS after joining the club in the summer of 2018. The midfielder played 2055 minutes in 2019 and recorded an assist in a 5-0 win against Houston on July 17. MLS Cup Playoffs: Came on as a substitute and played 11 minutes in the Eastern Conference Semifinal against Philadelphia Union. U.S. Open Cup: Appeared in all five matches and made four starts on Atlanta’s run to the 2019 US. Open Cup title. Scored the game-winning goal in 2-0 win against Orlando City SC in the semifinal. Concacaf Champions League: Started all four of Atlanta’s matches against C.S. Herediano and CF Monterrey.
2018 (Atlanta United): After joining the club during the secondary transfer window, Remedi quickly earned a starting spot in defensive midfield. He made his debut in a 3-1 win vs. D.C. United on July 21 as a substitute and then started the remaining 12 matches of the regular season, playing 90 minutes in every match. Recorded an assist in Atlanta’s 3-0 win at Colorado on Sept. 15. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started and played 90 minutes in each of Atlanta’s five playoffs matches on the way to winning MLS Cup. Scored in Atlanta’s 1-0 win at NYCFC in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Tallied an assist in the second leg, a 3-1 Atlanta win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
2017/18 (Banfield): Played and started in 25 matches for Banfield between Primera Division and Copa Libertadores action. He played the full 90 minutes in 17 of those 25 matches before transferring to Atlanta United on June 26, 2018.
2016/17 (Banfield): Remedi started 23 of 24 matches in the Primera Division. Recorded his first career assist on November 26, 2016 in a 3-2 win against Estudiantes. Played over 2,000 minutes as Banfield finished in fifth place to qualify for the Copa Libertadores second stage. He also started all three matches in the Copa Argentina where Banfield reached the Round of 16.
